For a Best Film List for the last 25+ years, I've integrated mainstream films with foreign language films (f), documentaries (d), and more recently animations (a). As an interesting sidebar, I've had just about ten four star films every year.
As to the Worst List, I'm not seeing 150 first-run films a year these days, so I miss seeing the really, really bads ones (on purpose) although I wish I had been able to avoid the ones at the bottom!
Best of the Three-Star Films:
2046, The Aristocrats, Ballets Russes, Breakfast on Pluto, The Dying Gaul, Envon: The Smartest Guys in the Room, First Descent, Gunner Palace, Happy Endings, The Matador, Me and You and Everyone We Know, November, Off the Map, Proof, Saving Face, The Passenger (1975), The World, Where the Truth Lies.
Rest of the Three-Star Films:
A Dirty Shame, Brokeback Mountain, Crash, Cronicas, The Education of Shelby Knox, Ellie Parker, Green St. Hooligans, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, Heights, Layer Cake, Melinda and Melinda, Mrs. Henderson Presents, Murderball, My Summer of Love, North Country, Serenity, Shop Girl, Star Wars, The Squid & the Whale, Transamerica, Yes.
Worst Films of 2005:
Batman Begins, Be Cool, The Brothers Grimm, The 40-Year Old Virgin, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Munich, The Upside of Anger.
