Lexus LFA Returns: A New Electric Concept (2026)

Remember the Lexus LFA? It was a legend, a fleeting moment of automotive brilliance that vanished almost as quickly as it appeared. Produced for a mere two years, from 2010 to 2012, with a limited run of only 500 units globally, it left enthusiasts yearning for its return. And guess what? The wait is over... kind of.

Introducing the new Lexus LFA Concept! It's the first Lexus to bear the iconic LFA badge since 2012. However, before you get too excited, let's clarify: it's a concept. That means it's not quite ready for your driveway.

But here's where it gets controversial... the heart of this beast is missing. Sadly, there's no high-revving V-10 engine screaming to a thrilling 9,500 RPM redline, no Yamaha-tuned symphony. Instead, the new LFA concept is fully electric, running on batteries. Lexus is keeping the performance and battery specifics under wraps for now, emphasizing that this is, first and foremost, a concept.

The company justifies this shift by stating that the 'LFA' name isn't tied to internal combustion engines. It's about preserving and passing on technological advancements to the next generation.

Digging deeper, we find some interesting details. The LFA concept is built on a new lightweight, high-rigidity aluminum chassis. This is the same chassis that also underpins the production Toyota GR GT and GT3 race car, though the Toyota model opts for a twin-turbo V-8 hybrid setup instead of batteries.

Visually, the new LFA closely resembles the Sport Concept that debuted earlier this year. The body panels are largely unchanged, with minor tweaks to give it a more production-ready feel. Given the similarities, it's likely the production version won't stray far from this concept.

And this is the part most people miss... Size-wise, the LFA concept measures 185.6 inches long (4,690 millimeters), 80.3 inches wide (2,040 mm), with a wheelbase of 107.3 inches (2,725 mm). This makes the new LFA approximately 10 inches longer than its predecessor (177.4 inches) and over six inches wider (74.6 inches). It's a statement of presence.

Inside, the LFA boasts a cockpit-like design with aggressive detailing that wraps around the driver. The traditional instrument cluster is replaced with a screen-based display, with no central infotainment screen.

While many details about the production version remain unknown, this concept gives us a clear glimpse of the future. Batteries and all.
