Olivia has stepped right into being one of the top players in the world, and now Mikayla has." He even humorously recounted how Blakes, after scoring 19 points as a freshman, would respond to his jokes about her being "allergic to 20" by saying, "Next game," and then proceeding to shatter those expectations.
Foderingham watched from the stands as Blakes navigated foul trouble against Michigan. Despite the challenges and five turnovers, Vanderbilt managed to hold on for a 19-0 unbeaten start, with senior Justine Pissott contributing a strong 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists off the bench. Blakes finished with 14 points and 4 assists.
"We want more for ourselves and we know that it feels like to get to the tournament, we just want to make it further," Blakes stated, her eyes set on the ultimate prize. "So these games are preparing us and like coach said, we're figuring things out that are going to be needed when we get to March Madness and SEC tournament."
